Principal Investigator
Dr. Cangyu Qu (瞿苍宇) joined Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in August 2026 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering. He is broadly interested in nanotribology, nanomechanics, and two-dimensional materials. He has published 27 peer-reviewed articles with over 1,000 total citations, including in top journals such as Phys. Rev. Lett., Sci. Adv., PNAS.
Dr. Qu obtained both his bachelor's and Ph.D. degrees in mechanics from Tsinghua University, where his Ph.D. work with Prof. Quanshui Zheng (郑泉水院士) received the Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM). Prior to joining SUSTech, he was a postdoc at the University of Pennsylvania, working with Prof. Robert Carpick and Prof. Ottman Tertuliano.
Master Students
Enqi Wu (吴恩祈)
Enqi Wu (吴恩祈) is a master student in the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering at SUSTech. He joined the group in August 2026. He received his B.S. degree in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from Southern University of Science and Technology. During his undergraduate study, he worked on the flow characteristics of human blood in blood vessels based on COMSOL. His current primary research interest lies in the field of micro-nano interfacial mechanics. Outside of research, he loves playing basketball, playing the piano, and anime.
Zijie Deng (邓梓杰)
Zijie Deng (邓梓杰) is a master student in the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering at SUSTech since August 2026. He received his B.S. degree in Engineering Mechanics from CSUST. During his undergraduate study, he focused on the numerical analysis of supersonic flutter in variable-stiffness nano-composite laminated plates with MATLAB. His current primary research interests lie in the fields of mechanochemistry. He loves doing sports and watching movies.
Manqi Xu (徐嫚琦)
Manqi Xu (徐嫚琦) is amaster student in the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering at SUSTech. She joined the group in August 2026. She received his B.S. degree in Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering from Shantou University. During her undergraduate study, she worked on the effects of atomic parity in laser fields on photoelectron spectra. Her current research interest is in the field of micro-nano interface tribology. She enjoys relaxing through listening to music, watching movies, and engaging in outdoor activities.
