Principal Investigator

Dr. Cangyu Qu (瞿苍宇) is joining Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in fall 2026 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering. He is broadly interested in nanotribology, nanomechanics, and two-dimensional materials. He has published 26 peer-reviewed articles with over 1,000 total citations, including in top journals such as Phys. Rev. Lett., Sci. Adv., PNAS.

Dr. Qu obtained both his bachelor's and Ph.D. degrees in mechanics from Tsinghua University, where his Ph.D. work with Prof. Quanshui Zheng (郑泉水院士) received the Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation Award from the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (CSTAM). Prior to joining SUSTech, he was a postdoc at the University of Pennsylvania, working with Prof. Robert Carpick and Prof. Ottman Tertuliano. Outside of research, he enjoys basketball, volleyball, and Chinese music.
